Girls will tour the museum’s jewel room and library – learning about jewelry designing. Each girl will make 2 pieces of jewelry. Jeweler Junior Badge included. The museum requests no more than two adults per troop.

Earth Day

Please register with the London Service Center between February 1 and March 30. Minimum 1 troop – maximum 15 troops. Troops and families may enjoy Earth Day free of charge and without registering if they do not want to set up a booth and earn a PRIDE patch. Join this global event and celebrate it right here in Somerset. Each registering troop will be sent a packet of information and choices for a booth. The choices come from age level handbooks and badge books. On Earth Day, troops come prepared to set up their booth for all to enjoy. Tables and lunch provided. Free Girl Scout/PRIDE patches available for girls completing this project. For more information, call the London Service Center.

Judges decide who the Iron Chef will be based on presentation, taste and creativity. Secret ingredient will be announced to participants one week before cook off. Patch included. Girls will have the opportunity to choose their level of adventure and try as many of the activities as they can fit into the day. Activities offered include rappelling, rock climbing, archery, canoeing, prusiking, team’s course, climbing tower and zipline, art-attack, game time, and hiking. Saturday night’s theme party is “An Evening in Hollywood.”

Please register with Helen Lee, Route 2 Box 56, Pineville, KY 40977 between April 1 and May 10. Minimum 10 – maximum 56. Dress to get wet. Wear a bathing suit with old clothes over and quick drying shoes. Bring sun screen, change of clothes, and towel. Leaders must return permission forms signed by parents/guardians. All participants must be comfortable in the water and in wearing a life jacket (provided) in the water.

Please register with the London Service Center between March 15 and May 1. Minimum 35 – maximum 55. No tag-a-longs. Challenge yourself in the great outdoors! Learn to dress for the weather, use a bandanna as an apron or to carry your lunch, tie the basic knots all campers need to know, lay trail signs, and roll your own sleeping bag. Juniors and Cadettes will also learn to safely build a fire and cook a snack. Brownies will earn the Ready, Set, Go Camping Try-It and Juniors will complete activities toward the Outdoor Fun Junior badge. Badge/Try-It NOT included in cost.

Please register with the Somerset Girl Scout office between May 1 and June 9. Minimum 20 – maximum 75. Girls must be registered for the 07-08 year by May 31 in order to attend. Includes one round of golf, patch, hotdog, chips, and drink. This is a Spring Registration event!

Music in the Mountains Twilight Camp

Please register with the Paintsville Girl Scout office between May 14 and June 1. Minimum 25 – maximum 100. No tag-a-longs. Have a great time at Twilight Camp! Scouts will earn badges while learning about different musical styles and musical instruments.

Summer Get Away for Teens

Please register with the Pikeville Girl Scout office between January 2 and July 2. Minimum 20 – maximum 40. Girls will experience team building and high adventure activities.
