In Girl Scouting, girls are busy with all kinds of wonderful activities such as investigating careers, troop camping, learning about animals, doing service projects, working in the arts, etc. Not only do girls enjoy the challenge and the fun of these activities, they are also earning Girl Scout recognitions.

Recognitions are designed to help girls develop skills to the fullest potential. Earning the highest award – whether it be Bronze, Silver or Gold, recognizes a girls efforts in a range of Girl Scout and community experiences as well as a commitment to working to better herself and The Gold, Silver and Bronze Award Workshops help girls and leaders understand the process of earning the award and gives insight to what girls may do for their service projects. There is no charge for the award workshops, but troops must register at the Service Center they are attending.

Gold Award – Gold Award Workshop

Teen Girl Scouts (Ages 14-17)

Maximum 30 girls and adults. Register between October 3 – November 8. Earning the Gold Award is achieved by only 2% of all girls who join Girl Scouting. Come and learn about the new "streamlined" Gold Award requirements. Booklet and project proposal forms will be given to participants.

Please call the Program Department if you have a Senior Girl Scout Troop that would like to work on the Gold Award and can not attend this training. Special arrangements will be made for your troop.

Silver Award – The Silver Mine

Girl Scouts (Ages 11-14)

Camp Shawano-Woodview Lodge

Minimum 20 – maximum 32. $25.00 per person. Register with Ericka Harney, 311 Wilson Downing Rd, Lexington, KY 40517 between September 6 and October 7. Explore the Silver Mine, get a jump start on the Silver Award at this overnight. We will go over the requirements and do activities toward your Silver Award.

Go For It: Silver Award –

Minimum 20 – maximum 50. Register by September 19. Get all the information concerning earning the Silver Award at this workshop.

Minimum 10 – maximum 25. Register between October 3 and November 4. Make earning the Silver Award your troop’s goal this year!

Minimum 15 – maximum 30. Register between October 3 and November 29. Silver Award Training for girls interested in achieving the highest award for girls in middle school.

Go For It: Bronze Award –

Bronze Award Training for Junior Girl Scouts and their leaders.

Minimum 10 – maximum 30. Register before September 12.

Minimum 10 – maximum 30. Register between September 6 – October 11.

Minimum 10 – maximum 25. Register between October 3 – November 4.
